The early days and weeks following birth are some of the most important and significant in any family's life. Having one-to-one advice, support and assistance at the end of the phone till your baby is 28-days old can feel like a real lifeline. As well as the standard postnatal mum and baby checks, I can offer emotional support, breastfeeding support and practical advice and tips on caring for your new baby and your own recovery and healing after birth. I also offer birth debriefing, birth healing sessions, birth reclaiming ceremonies and birth closing ceremonies.
Birthfully Postnatal Package A complete package of private postnatal care in the comfort of your own home with a midwife you know and trust to support you in the early days of parenthood. The postnatal package provides you with one to one, individualised care from a known midwife through the postnatal period, from any point after you have given birth up to day 28. I usually visit 3-4 times in the first week, depending on need, with visits decreasing in frequency as you gain confidence. I can support you to feel confident in your feeding and parenting in the early days and also teach baby massage. Fee: £1800. Monthly instalment plan can be organised if needed. Discount available if full Antenatal and Postnatal packages of care are booked.
Private postnatal appointments Private postnatal visits in the comfort of your own home -these can be one-off appointments to complement your NHS care, which unfortunately can often feel rushed and impersonal. These visits are unhurried, and at a time that is convenient for you and your partner - they last as long as you need, but usually 1-2 hours. Fee: £180
Birth Debriefing A session to help you make sense of what happened during the birth of your baby, and how this may affect future pregnancies and births. This can be particularly helpful after a traumatic or disappointing birth or when things did not go as planned. Can be done with or without a copy of your hospital notes. A birth debriefing session usually lasts a couple of hours. Please call to discuss this further. Fee: £170
Birth Trauma Resolution Therapy A highly effective treatment accredited by the Royal College of Midwives and based on Human Givens trauma therapy techniques. Suitable for anyone who has experienced birth or birth related trauma or loss including miscarriage and termination of pregnancy. Suitable for anyone interested in working through any difficult or traumatic memories leftover from their birth no matter how recent or long ago. Works best as three sessions, each one lasting about an hour long, but sometimes another one or two sessions may be helpful. Please call to discuss further. Fee: £180 for 3 sessions
Somatic Experiencing (SE) Based on the work of Dr Peter Levine, this is a body-based psychotherapeutic approach for working with the effects of trauma. I use this powerful modality of working with the nervous system to support people with trauma, anger, disappointment and grief around their experiences of giving birth. SE works by helping to stabilise our nervous system, so that our capacity to be with difficult and painful emotional and physical experiences is expanded. When we meet these parts of ourself from a grounded, solid and resourced place, we have the possibility to re-negotiate what has occurred in the past and the energy that was bound-up in the body is released and freed-up - bringing with it a sense of aliveness, relaxation, and wholeness. Fee: £60 - £85 per hour
"Suyai also looked after me postnatally and although I had not thought much about this part before the birth it was here that Suyai really was invaluable. I had breastfeeding issues and my baby had tongue-tie. She was my strong advocate when I was vulnerable and tired, helping me get the referrals I needed and attending appointments along side me. Without her I really don't think I would still be breastfeeding my baby today!"
